You now span my entire torso when you fall asleep on my chest but you still have that new baby smell, that new baby peace.

There’s work to be done, a job that needs my attention, but for this short moment,

I will bask in the beauty of you sleeping on my chest.

I know the time is coming when you will no longer fit so perfectly in my arms, when you will no longer fall asleep on your mama, so I will let the weight of your body slow down my work.

I will allow myself to enjoy the fleeting memory this will soon become.
